People in the area have been angry and protesting since Saturday morning. Villagers walked around the village raising slogans and demanding that the accused be hanged. Villagers also protested by blocking the main road from Isolbari to Farrakatta.

According to information received by the police, a girl from a village under Farrakatta police station was playing in front of a house on Friday afternoon. Both parents went to farm. They returned home and searched, but didn’t see the girl. With the help of local people, the girl was found. But then there was no life left in him. The girl’s body was found near a pond. There were accusations of rape and murder.

The defendant was tied to a tree and beaten to death

The accused allegedly seduced the girl, then raped and murdered her. Locals grabbed a young neighbor and tied him to a tree for his involvement in the incident. The protest took place when police attended the scene after receiving information about the assault. After several rescue operations, the defendant was sent to the hospital. where the girl was pronounced dead.

According to police sources, a young man was arrested by police in the incident. The police produced the accused youth before the Alipurduar district court on Saturday. Some locals claim the girl was gang-raped.

Kunal Ghosh demands strict punishment for culprits

On the other hand, political reaction to the Alipurduar case has begun. The opposition has raised questions over the law and order situation in the state. Issues regarding the safety of women and children were also raised.

In this context, Kunal Ghosh posted on social media on behalf of the ruling party. He wrote in the article that incidents like Alipurduar are social problems. In serious criminal cases, strict punishment or police action is not enough.
