Two-second selfie taken behind an auto-rickshaw becomes one of the most viewed clips x, Transforming its creator into an unlikely internet star.

The video in question was posted on November 2 by an Indian woman using the handle @w0rdgenerator with the caption: “Ate makeup today.” In it, she is seen looking towards the camera wearing a white top, silver earrings and a patterned bandana.

In the three weeks since its release, the clip has received over 50 million views, and counting.

The original creator remained largely anonymous, known only by her X handle, and was quickly nicknamed “Bandana Girl” on the Internet. She was later identified by the news site as Priyanga the juggernaut,

“I was expecting a maximum of 1,000 likes. It’s out of control now,” she told the outlet. “I get tired of seeing my face over and over again. I don’t know if I have the ability to create content.”

Independent Priyanga has been contacted for comment.

The ubiquity of video is almost impossible to ignore for anyone who spends any time on it. social media platform. according to Hindustan TimesIt received 15 million views, 53,000 likes and over 7,000 comments within the first 10 days of being posted.

Within days of the video spreading across the Internet, confusing comments began pouring in. “What’s special about this post?” One person asked. “I’ve seen more of this bandana girl than my parents this month,” wrote another.

The video’s hold on the Internet is so widespread that another user posted: “This was the only video running on Twitter during the Cloudflare outage. Untouched by technology constraints.”

Why this particular two-second clip went so viral is still unclear, but the Internet has supplied its own theories, even as users have reused it for their own purposes. One of the earliest examples comes from Bengaluru-based entrepreneur Sumit Singh, founder of recruitment firm Rightfit Quote-tweeted the video With a list of job opportunities and a sarcastic note that he was “testing his luck”.

Other users soon followed, treating Reels as a kind of digital billboard: some promoted start-ups or hiring notices, while others used it to push unrelated content in hopes of capitalizing on the algorithm’s speed.

As the video changed, the feeding frenzy became part of the story MEME Template and a vehicle for what is described as an outletmaterial fuel” For Creators are chasing ideas,

While Priyanga started out as a regular, unverified user, the increase in attention has changed her presence on the platform. She now has a blue tick, a change that attracted fresh waves of comments from users actively tracking her posts.

“He has a blue tick now. The payment he will get for this will mark a significant amount of US dollars coming into the Indian economy. This will strengthen the rupee against the dollar and counter all the effects of Trump’s tariffs,” one person joked.

Priyanga has not confirmed whether she is enrolled in the program or not.

Priyanga has continued to post more and is surprised by the reaction to her makeup. And yet, his impromptu video shot during a routine rickshaw ride has managed to dominate millions of feeds and continues to do so even days later.

Wedding photographer Joseph Radhik’s post may be the closest explanation to why the clip has gone viral. “Social media virality has nothing to do with this effort,” he wrote.

“It’s one of the few things in life where the result is not tied to the effort. In fact, it’s sometimes inversely proportional. Sorry for the LinkedIn post level behavior, but if you’re a content creator today, remember that you can just do things.”
