Jakarta, Indonesia (AP) – The rescue teams were searching for 38 people missing in some sea overnight after a boat drowned near Indonesia’s resort island Bali.
According to Surbaya Search and Rescue Agency, one and four people died and 23 were rescued.
The National Search and Rescue Agency said in a statement that KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya drowned about half an hour after exiting East Java’s Katepang port late Wednesday night. This 50 km (30-mile) journey was obliged to the Gilimonuk port of Bali.
The boat took 22 vehicles, including 53 passengers, 12 crew members and 14 trucks.
Banungi police chief Ram Samatma Putra said that many of them were initially unconscious after flowing into the eighth kind of unconscious water.
Nine boats, including two tug boats and two inflatable boats, are searching for missing people, struggling with 2 meters (6.5 ft) high waves in the dark overnight.
Perry tragedy is common in Indonesia, a archipelago of over 17,000 islands, where the ghats are often used as transport and can miss security rules.
