Babil Khan attained an Oscar for India: “What if I fail because Irfan Khan was so great?”

New Delhi:

Babil Khan has always been ahead of his father, late Irfan Khan’s responsibility for his legacy. He recently also revealed that he was afraid to accept his father that he wanted to act.

Babil told PTI“Because the father-son has this ego … what if I fail because he was very great? But I finally accepted. And he got nervous for me because he knew how he had brought me. I was a very sensitive child.”

Babil further expressed his desire to bring back the Oscar for the best actor in India.

He said, “I have a passion performance. It can be acting, it can be music. Right now, I am a very shy singer. I would like to find out that I am after acting a little.”

He said, “Sometimes, we have already decided what we want to do in life. I am just 26 years old, I do not want to pressurize myself by saying that I will do this for the rest of my life … (but) I want to bring myself to the best actor Oscar Trophy to India. I want to prove myself as an actor. Then I can take back a step from acting, and then I can take a step from acting.”

Recalling the difficult times of Irfan, who was struggling with cancer, Babil said how he had to leave because chemotherapy destroyed his father’s body.

Babil recalled, “The cancer cells were zero, but no immune system was left. Just a simple infection killed them. They defeated cancer, so even a beautiful thing is that they ended their last challenge. They defeated their cancer and then they left.”

Babil further reminded how he was supported by people after Irfan Khan’s death.

He mentioned, “People will come and cry and cry … I felt very close to the people at that time. I felt a responsibility for the personal memories that I have with Baba.”

On the work front, Babil Khan is ready for his next release Log outOn Zee5, on April 18, 2025.
