Ayodhya, Oct 17 (IANS) Ayodhya is all set to host the most spectacular edition of Deepotsav 2025, with the festival set to become a defining chapter in the cultural and spiritual calendar of India.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, preparations are in full swing to make this year’s festival not only grander than before but also a symbol of devotion, heritage and national unity.
India’s spiritual capital, Ayodhya will soon be lit with millions of earthen lamps, creating a divine scene along the banks of the sacred Saryu river. The event is being coordinated with the strong support of the local administration, cultural organizations and especially Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, which has played a leading role in organizing the Deepotsav.
Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Colonel Dr. Bijendra Singh, thousands of volunteers and students are working tirelessly at Ram Ki Paidi Ghat to prepare for this event. On the second day of massive preparations, volunteers arrived in reserved buses from the university campus on Friday to assist in placing lamps at all 56 ghats.
Professor Anup Kumar, who was coordinating the transport, said that the volunteers gathered enthusiastically since morning, filling the campus with energy and devotion. Volunteers were divided into groups and deployed systematically to ensure well-coordinated arrangements of intensive operations.
Dr. Bijendra Singh said, “Deepotsav is not just an event; it is a public celebration of the values and ideals of Lord Shri Ram. Every volunteer is contributing with full dedication considering it as Ramkarya – service to Lord Ram.”
According to university sources, more than 60 percent of the lamps have already been placed. Many ghats have completed their target and the remaining work is progressing rapidly under the supervision of ghat in-charges and coordinators.
As slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” echo on the river banks and lakhs of lamps illuminate the holy city, Ayodhya is preparing to fulfill Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of a historic and divine festival.
This year Deepotsav is not only about lighting up the city but also about taking the spiritual and cultural identity of Ayodhya to new heights. A grand aarti of Saryu river is also going to take place, which is expected to break previous records and leave an indelible mark on the minds of the devotees.
In the last edition, 1,151 participants performed Saryu Aarti together, earning a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. This year, organizers aim to double that scale. This event will showcase the spiritual strength and collective devotion of Ayodhya on the national and global stage.
The aarti is being organized by the district administration and municipal corporation, with Vashishtha Foundation handling the major responsibilities. Scheduled for 5 pm on October 19, the aarti site has been divided into 11 zones, stretching from Naya Ghat to Lakshman Ghat, with space for 200 participants per zone.
To ensure smooth running of the event, Mayor Mahant Girishpati Tripathi is personally monitoring the arrangements. He confirmed that every possible effort is being made to make this Deepotsav inclusive, reflective of the traditions of Ayodhya and in line with the cultural vision of the Yogi government.
On October 17 at 3 pm, a lamp lighting ceremony was held as part of the pre-event activities. The participants also rehearsed the aarti to coordinate the Vedic mantras, lamp lighting and group formation – ensuring that the event proceeded with discipline and grace.
