Ayodhya, Nov 10 (IANS) As the country celebrated the sixth anniversary of the Supreme Court verdict on Ram Temple on November 9, two people from different religions tied the knot and took matrimonial vows in Ayodhya. Abhishek Yadav and Idima, both hailing from Ayodhya, were in a relationship for a long time and decided to tie the knot on the sixth anniversary of the historic Supreme Court verdict to celebrate their special day in a unique way.
The couple took seven vows to live and die together and tied their relationship with the sacred bond of marriage, marking a new beginning in their lives.
Groom Abhishek Yadav said that he was in contact with a girl named Indima for the last three years.
Abhishek said, “After about six or seven months, her family came to know about our relationship. Since she was Muslim, they opposed it and put pressure on her, due to which she ran away.”
He further claimed that after her disappearance, the girl’s mother accused him of kidnapping and an FIR was lodged against him.
He said, “Even though the girl was not with me, I was framed and sent to jail. After being released, I resolved to marry her. Today, we had our wedding as per Hindu rituals.”
Abhishek said that while the girl was 17 years old at the time of the last incident, now she is 18 years and two months old.
He said, “Both of us got married willingly. We chose this day because on this date the Supreme Court’s decision in favor of the Ram temple had come.”
Bride Mehak Yadav aka Indima Khan confirmed that their decision was taken without any external pressure.
She said, “We have been in a relationship for three years. I am now 18 years old. We got married as per Hindu rituals and we are very happy. Earlier my parents had leveled false allegations against him. Now we just want security.”
Mahant Sant Das, who blessed the couple, said, “They were in a relationship for many years. The girl wanted the marriage to be as per the rituals of Sanatan Dharma.”
On November 9, 2019, a five-judge Constitution bench headed by then Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi delivered its historic verdict in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. The court ruled that a temple should be constructed at the disputed site and the Muslim side should be allotted five acres of land to build a mosque. The decision brought to a close one of India’s most contentious legal and religious disputes.
