Australian leader and Papua New Guinea On Monday, a major bilateral rescue treaty signed which China believes it is wrongly targeted.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony albanis And her papua new guinea counterpart James Marpe The agreement was described as a mutual defense treaty that would enable unprecedented integration of their defense forces and military personnel.
This is Australia’s only coalition-tier security treaty, signed with others other than the Anzus Treaty United States And New Zealand in 1951. This is the first such treaty for Papua New Guinea, the nearest neighbor of Australia and the former colony.
The treaty will be effective after this is confirmed by the parliaments of the two countries.

Albanis told reporters at a joint press conference in Australia’s Parliament house, “The treaty in the treaty is a mutual defense responsibility similar to the Australia’s Austration commitments, where we declare that in the event of an armed attack in any of our countries, we will work to fulfill the common threats.”
Albanis said, “Both our nations have also agreed to not do any activities or enter into any agreement that will compromise on the implementation of this treaty.”
Marape and Albanis last month signed a statement supporting the main principles of the treaty, a statement in Papua New Guinea issued a statement that such a bilateral agreement “should not be exclusive in nature, nor should it be restricted or stopped by a sovereign country by cooperating with third party for any reason.”
The embassy posted on social media said, “Any third party should also avoid targeting or reducing its valid rights and interests.”
Marap said that on Monday, the treaty did not destroy the main foreign policy of Papua New Guinea: friend, no one to the enemy.
“This is not a treaty that establishes enemies, but friendships and consolidating China – we have been transparent – we have told them that Australia … has become the security partner of our choice and they understand,” Marpe said.
Marap said that the treaty consolidated the safety partnership of Papua New Guinea with Australia, “There is no intention of making enemies anywhere else.”

Outside Australia and New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Tonga are the only South Pacific Island nations with terrorists. Australia is interacting with Fiji on a bilateral defense agreement.
Three Prashant Island countries have changed their diplomatic recognition from Taiwan to Beijing since 2019 as China’s influence in the region has increased. The US and its allies are particularly concerned with the growing dominance of China in security through police training in Fiji, Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanutu.
