The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, January 12, after the conclusion of the nomination process at the party headquarters in Delhi, confirmed that Nitin Nabin is the only candidate in the fray for the post of national president of the party.
Nabin, 45, who currently serves as the national working president of the party, received 37 valid sets of nomination papers, making him the only name officially submitted for consideration by the returning officer.
Of these, 36 were filed by representatives of states and union territories, and one was presented by the BJP’s national council and parliamentary party with the support of senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and outgoing president JP Nadda.
Congratulating Nabin, Prime Minister Modi told X, “Met BJP National Working President Shri Nitin Nabin ji. Congratulated him on his new responsibility and wished him all the best in his efforts to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. I am confident that his organizational and administrative experience will be an asset to our party as we work together to fulfill the aspirations of all people.”
With no other contender filing nomination, Nabeen is now poised to be elected unopposed as the 12th national president of the BJP, signaling a generational change in the party’s organizational leadership.
The formal announcement is expected to be made at an event at the party headquarters on Tuesday (January 20) morning, which PM Modi is expected to attend.

Nitin Nabin is an Indian politician and organizational leader of BJP. He belongs to a political family; His father, late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, was a senior BJP leader and four-time MLA in the Bihar Assembly.
Nabeen entered active politics after the death of his father and was first elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2006 in a by-election from Patna West. After delimitation, he represented Bankipur constituency and was re-elected in 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2025.
An experienced legislator, he has held several ministerial positions in the Government of Bihar, including Road Construction, Urban Development and Housing, and Law and Justice, and gained administrative experience before his promotion to national roles.
Within the party, Nabeen’s organizational journey has included leadership roles in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and responsibilities such as state president of BJYM in Bihar and organizational in-charge assignments in other states, which enhanced his stature as a national leader.
