A truck collides with a sidewalk in a market south korea On Thursday, two people died and at least 20 others were injured.

The truck, reportedly driven by a 60-year-old man, veered onto the footpath at a market in Buchen at around 10.55am local time on Thursday.

At least two women died after suffering cardiac arrest, according to reports Chosun DeliAt least eight others suffered serious injuries, All the victims were taken to the nearest hospital,

The driver was rescued after becoming trapped in the door and was not in critical condition. He was not under the influence of alcohol when police tested him, a police officer told a briefing. korea joongang daily,

The official said the truck was seen overturning for 28 meters before heading towards the outer market.

He said the driver blamed sudden speed for the incident.

According to Xinhua News report, the driver told the police that the brakes of the truck had failed. The officer said police will hand over the vehicle to investigators to find out the cause of the accident.

The man has been booked under the Traffic Accident Special Act on charges of causing death by negligence and causing hurt.

The vehicle traveled for about 100 meters in the market before crashing into a shop and stopping.

“I was eating inside the shop when I heard screaming outside, then a car passed by and crashed with a loud noise,” said Jin Mo, a 43-year-old vendor at the market. Another businessman told Chosun Deli: “The noise during the accident was so loud that I thought the building was collapsing.”

Earlier this month, a Japanese tourist was killed in Seoul while another was injured after being hit by a drunk driver, police said.
