At least 14 people were killed, 750 others were injured in an explosion at Iranian port

CNN reported that at least 14 people were killed and 750 others were injured after an explosion at Shahid Raji port in Iran’s monkey Abbas.

Shahid Raji Port Complex saw a huge pile of thick, brown smoke. The Iranian government has said that the blast was probably related to the chemicals stored.

Iran’s media said Iran’s interior minister, Eskander Momeni said six people are missing as firefighters continued efforts to control the blasts, despite facing challenges such as high winds, CNN described the Iranian media.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been revealed. A government spokesperson, Fatmeh Mohzerani, said it would take some time to find the cause of the explosion, “but what has been determined so far is that the containers were stored in a corner of the port that probably included chemicals that had exploded.”

He further said, “But until the fire extinguishes, it is difficult to find out the reason.” Iranian officials have declared an emergency in monkey Abbas to protect the population amid a significant increase in air pollution.

The Health Ministry has collected health teams and has taken emergency measures to protect the health of citizens. Citing the official Iranian media, people have been asked to stay indoors, avoid external activities and keep the windows closed, CNN said.

According to state media, the debris was spread over a wide area and several buildings in the Port Complex were badly damaged due to the explosion. In addition, windows within several kilometers radius were broken.

According to some reports, people were trapped in a complex debris that was reduced in debris. CNN said that the region’s governor Mohammad Ashuri Taziani said that the injured were taken to Bandar Abbas Medical Center.

In a post on X, Peseshakian said, “Expressing deep regrets and sympathy for the victims of the incident in the Hormozgan province, I issued an order to investigate the status and causes of the incident.
