Assam CM highlighted the role of ‘self -reliant Asom Yojana’ in promoting entrepreneurship

Guwahati, September 18 (IANS) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday that the major initiative of the state government, Chief Minister Atma Advardhar Bhar Asom Yojana, is providing important support to budding entrepreneurs and playing an important role in nurturing the entrances of the state.

Taking X, Sarma said that the plan “is giving wings to Assam entrepreneurs” by providing financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh, with structured mentorship support, individuals eager to establish or expand their businesses.

According to the Chief Minister, the purpose of the program is to create sustainable livelihood, encourage self -reliance and to reduce the dependence on traditional jobs by strengthening the youth to carry forward business opportunities in various fields.

The first launched Atmanbhar Asom Scheme provides access to selected beneficiaries with government -supported financial assistance, training modules and mentarships from industry experts.

This, Sarma noted, will not only strengthen individual undertakings, but will also generate widespread employment opportunities, which will promote the overall economy of the state.

Officials said the scheme has been designed with special attention to the first generation entrepreneurs, especially from rural and semi-urban backgrounds, which often face challenges in reaching credit or professional guidance.

Financial assistance is provided as a combination of bank loans and government subsidies, which ensure long -term stability for projects.

The government has also guided the beneficiaries through the process of setting up enterprises, handling accounts, marketing and scaling operations to guide the beneficiaries in professional agencies and commercial masters as well.

A senior industry department official said, “With the rollout of this initiative, the state hopes to emerge a new wave of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to build jobs in search of employment and reduce the youth’s migration,” said a senior official of the Department of Industries.

Sarma said that this initiative is part of the government’s broad vision for the creation of a self -sufficient Assam, where youth are encouraged to become a job maker rather than job seekers.

The Chief Minister’s Atma Bharbhar Asom Yojana has been seen as one of the most ambitious steps by the Assam government to change its economy through entrepreneurship-managed development by the Assam government in recent years.
