The attacks hit multiple locations in northern and southern Gaza, including an apartment building in Gaza. Gaza City Hospital officials who received the body said there was also a tent in Khan Younis. The casualties included two women and six children from two different families.

The attack, which came a day before the border crossing in Gaza’s southernmost city opened, was a reminder that the death toll continues to rise even as a cease-fire agreement moves forward.

All crossings in the territory have been closed since the war began, with Palestinians viewing the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt as a lifeline for tens of thousands of people in need of treatment outside the territory, where much of the health infrastructure has been destroyed.

Shifa Hospital said a strike in Gaza City killed a mother, three children and one of their relatives on Saturday morning, while Al-Nasser Hospital said a strike at a tent camp led to a fire that killed seven people, including a father, his three children and three grandchildren.

Since the ceasefire began on October 10, Gaza’s health ministry has recorded more than 500 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire. The department, which is part of the Hamas-led government, keeps detailed casualty records that U.N. agencies and independent experts consider generally reliable.
