Arunachal trading body glory of GST reforms, expresses satisfaction after interacting with PM Modi in Itanagar

Itanagar, 22 September (IANS) The trade community in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday says GST reforms say that tax restructures will benefit traders and all business communities.

Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACC & I) President Tarah Nachung expressed his satisfaction with a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Itanagar on Monday, stating that the new GST rates are expected to benefit everyone.

Local businessman and president of ACC and I, Tarh Nachung shared his views after talking to the Prime Minister and said that a 25-minute-face-to-face conversation with PM Modi would create a positive impact of the conversation on local trade and business.

He said that the discussion focuses on GST reforms, which has now been simplified by only two slabs – 5 percent and 18 percent. GST deduction will benefit shopkeepers, consumers and industries, including the owner of insurance, construction equipment and private vehicles, Nachung.

The trade body leader said that while many were unaware of GST in the internal areas of Arunachal Pradesh, the state government has established structures to raise awareness in all 28 districts, ensuring that both traders and consumer may benefit from reforms.

He described the conversation as “very valuable”, given that the Prime Minister personally explained how the reforms would support the business community and consumer would increase the profit.

The meeting was part of the “GST Bachat Utsav” incident, where the Prime Minister discussed the benefits of decrease in the new implemented GST rate.

The Prime Minister said that the GST reforms that have been effective from Monday would benefit the poor, middle class, women, farmers, traders and entrepreneurs, and urged everyone to celebrate a grand “GST Bathat Utsav”.

PM Modi confirmed that the GST ‘Savings Festival’ will be a memorable milestone for the people. Addressing a mega public meeting at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar after laying foundation stones for 13 development projects worth more than Rs 5,127 crore in Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi shared the slogan with the crowd, “Proudly Kahan, this is indigenous”.

The Prime Minister urged the crowd to raise their hands from the mobile flashlight, and thousands of people responded enthusiastically. Before attending the main event at Indira Gandhi Park, PM Modi visited an exhibition and interacted with local traders, craftsmen and artisans. Local products were displayed in the exhibition.

According to his approach to ensure ease of doing business and to promote a vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem, the Prime Minister also interacted with local taxpayers, traders and representatives of the recently to discuss the impact of GST rate rationalization. PM Modi said that during the festive season, citizens have received a double bonanza. He confirmed that GST ‘Savings Festival’ will bring happiness, prosperity and success to the people of India.

Accepting the huge presence of women in the meeting and congratulating once again for the GST ‘Savings Festival’, PM Modi insisted that they would be greatly affected by the benefits of the next generation GST reforms. He said that homes will now experience adequate relief in their monthly budget.

The PM said that the kitchen supply, educational materials for children, and essential items such as shoes and clothes have become more inexpensive. He announced that GST has now been simplified by only two slabs – 5 percent and 18 percent. PM Modi emphasized that many important items have become tax-free, and taxes on other items have been reduced considerably. He said that the construction of a house, buying a scooter or bike, eating, and traveling has all become more economical.
