Arunachal: Army rescues 13 citizens as bus in the valley

Officials said Itanagar, 2 October (IANS) In a remarkable performance of courage and professionalism, soldiers of the Gajraj Kor of the Indian Army rescued 13 civilians after a bus accident in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.

Defense spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat said that in an extraordinary performance of bravery and professionalism, soldiers of Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army rapidly responded to a tragic road accident near Baisakhi in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, where a bus, where 13 people were traveling, rolled into the valley on Thursday.

The spokesperson said that the soldiers immediately launched a rescue operation, demonstrating the highest traditions of ‘pre -service before self’. His quick and coordinated action saved the lives of 13 citizens, who were safely evacuated from the accident site.

Lieutenant Colonel Rawat said that army personnel also increased significant medical aid on the spot, ensuring timely care and stabilization of the injured.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu thanked the Assam Rifles and the locals for their quick and courageous response during a tragic landslide, killing two workers in TIRAP district on Wednesday and injured three others.

An disaster management official said two workers were killed and three others were injured when a huge Madaslide killed his construction site in Lapna village in TIRAP district on Wednesday.

The official said that landslides were triggered by cutting the earth at a construction site, implicating five workers under the debris. Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and State Disaster Response Force arrived at the site and conducted a rescue operation with active help from the local people.

The official said that two laborers were identified as Pangkai Sankom (25) and Jong Pansa (18), both of them lost their lives after being buried under a huge mound of Earth from Kamahua Noksa village of Longing District, from Kamahua Noksa village of Longing District.
