New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) As part of the Fit India initiative, the Indian Army along with ITBP successfully conducted a 20 km combined cycle rally at Aalo in West Siang, Arunachal Pradesh.
The rally was held on 21 October. According to PRO Defence, the event highlighted the synergy, interoperability and operational camaraderie between the two forces while promoting physical fitness and endurance among the service personnel.
Notably, the rally saw the participation of Army and ITBP officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and other ranks, who covered the challenging 20 km route together.
“This joint activity strengthened coordination, teamwork and mutual understanding between the two armies, strengthening jointness and esprit de corps,” PRO Defense said.
Similarly, medical, logistics and security arrangements were efficiently managed by the Indian Army, ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.
This initiative is in line with the objectives of Fit India, which emphasizes the importance of physical fitness in driving well-being, discipline and operational effectiveness.
The joint cycling rally in Aalo stands as a model for inter-agency collaboration, demonstrating how joint efforts in non-combat activities enhance coordination, interoperability and professional bonding between security forces, as well as promote a culture of fitness, endurance and operational preparedness.
Earlier this month, the national capital witnessed an energetic and inspiring celebration of World Teachers’ Day with the ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle – Special Edition’ event at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.

Organized under the flagship Fit India Movement, the Sunday on Cycle initiative has evolved into a nationwide campaign promoting fitness, sustainability and community engagement.
The October 5 edition of Fit India Sunday on Cycle paid a heartfelt tribute to teachers, recognizing their role in inspiring future champions and also promoting Fit India’s motto “Ek Ghanta Roz, Khel Ke Saath (An hour a day with sports)”.
