This was one of those games where, even during an unnecessarily ruthless time in football, you could see certain storylines intertwining.
first, arsenalA 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge went some way to setting the stage for the first of a possible series of showdowns with Manchester City for the trophy. They have both been involved in the Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle United and chelsea There may be something to be said for that, but the latter has to improve on this display. It’s a tough first home game Liam Ronnie Oreven though Mikel Arteta will be furious that Arsenal didn’t stop this game altogether. The nature of Alejandro Ganaccio’s two goals only made it worse. It was an oddly close scoreline, with it often feeling like the score could be 4-1.
It represented an encouraging spirited performance from Ronny Orr’s side, although they still have a lot of work to do tactically.
Arsenal’s frustration will be heightened as they often kept Chelsea at a comfortable distance after initially putting so much pressure on them that Ronaldo’s side simply couldn’t get away. That’s the real difference between the two sides and it really shows how much work a young coach has to do. This is the level he really needs to get Chelsea to.
From there, of course there was a corner kick and of course Arsenal could score. The only surprising thing is that it is Ben White Header, not Gabriel.
This may also be a bigger problem. Chelsea looked a little out of touch with the changes that were supposed to bring an element of tactical continuity. It took them a long time to figure out that printing press. It is difficult for them to draw 1-1 like Enzo Maresca did against Arsenal in November last year. From a general game point of view, this record is definitely closer than 3-2.
With around 10 minutes in, Declan Rice looked to have won it all in front of the Chelsea penalty area.
It doesn’t help that Roberto Sanchez barely seems to have any wins in his field over a longer period of time. Although White’s goal was purposeful, the goalkeeper didn’t score it with authority. He found himself excluded.
Even worse was the second goal. White scored this time after one of several clever Arsenal attacks.Victor Jockles He has been criticized in a way that he hasn’t done in the Premier League, but this time he may have been too eager as the ball looked like it would end up behind him.
Instead, Sanchez intervened just in his path, allowing the embattled striker to tap the ball home from a yard out.
You can feel the pent-up excitement at the end. Joe Kress even briefly performed his mask celebration, just for the sake of better thinking.
He needs that. You can see it in the celebrations of his teammates.
Ronnie Orr needs some sort of response, otherwise this first home game looks like a proper reality check. There were boos at halftime. Fans chanted unpopular chants about club owner Behdad Eghbali.
If Arsenal continue to win in the convincing fashion they threaten, there may be more talk about Chelsea needlessly ruining their season.
This is not to question Ronnie Orr’s ability, or even his likelihood of becoming a great Chelsea manager, but more to question the short-term challenges they face when they are in a broadly positive position. However, it was probably the most important development of the night for the club, and this was the response Ronnie Orr received. His substitution paid off. Grenache set off and Chelsea gave chase.
There was a certain amount of serendipity to both of their goals, as they took advantage of the often fractious nature of Arsenal’s defence, becoming a strong side. Kepa Arrizabalaga may have been booed by fans of his former club, but he was solid. Garnacho, however, is precise.
He took both chances well. Martin Zubimendi scored a goal during this period, showing the difference between the two teams in another way that could end up being the real deciding factor.
Arsenal had just swept past Chelsea in a way that would have left Arteta in awe. Joe Kreis also did his bit in another way, passing the ball to Zubimendi. The Spanish midfielder checked himself on the ball before finishing with a brilliant finish.
From this point of view, it can be said that Joe Kress is playing his best all-around game in a while. The score should have been better for Arsenal. This game could have been much worse for Chelsea.
So amid the many displays of work he has to do, there has also been some encouragement for Ronnie Orr.
At the end of the game, the coaches actually had to separate Zubimendi and Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea needed more fight in the second leg.
