In an important success for the Anantnag police, three persons were caught on Thursday with illegal weapons and ammunition during an investigation on a naka on Crad Raniipora Road.
A police spokesperson said that Naka was established by Police Station Uteruso, in coordination with SOG PC Chaittergul, 19 RR of SOG PC Chittergul, Army and 96 battalion of CRPF. The vehicle was indicated to stop during the investigation of a suspected Alto 800 vehicle, which was moving from Kard to Raniipora. However, the driver attempted to escape from the spot, but the alert with the other two onboard persons was intercepted by the party.
On searching for vehicles and suspects, weapons and ammunition were recovered from each suspect, who were identified as 1. Abdul Rahman Sheikh’s son Wasim Rahman, 2. Muhammad Akram’s son Ihasan Akram, both Midora, Troll, Avantpora and 3 sons, Bhud, Vehicle. 7
Initial investigation shows that Trikadi had purchased arms and ammunition from a banned terrorist organization and plans to carry out a terrorist Act in the region.
A case under FIR No. 40/2025 has been registered at Police Station UTTERSOO under Section 18, 39, 23, Section 7/25 of UAPA. Further investigation has been started.
