Arne Slaughter Has said he was “uneasy” about leaving Mohamed Salah out of liverpool to join the team again – but he’s willing to do it if he thinks it’s the right thing for the team.
Salah made his first start for Liverpool since being dropped in November. Wednesday’s 3-0 Champions League win over Marseilleupon his return from the African Cup of Nations.
But before that, he gave a brilliant interview at Leeds United where he said he was no longer involved with Slott and had been replaced Thrown under the bus by the club.
He was left out of Liverpool’s squad against Inter Milan as punishment and then came on as a substitute against Brighton, but he returned straight back to the squad this week.
Slott said it would be difficult for him to ignore the reigning Footballer of the Year and the man who scored 250 goals for Liverpool.
He explained: “I always get upset if I leave out a player, especially a player who means a lot to the club. You can work with a player for a long time and have success with them, but part of my job is to make the decision that I think is best for the team.”
“But it’s always an unsettling decision. Not just Mo, but every player I’ve left out because of the work they put in. They’re quality enough to play, so it’s always unsettling not to play players.”
Slott said he would not expect Salah, who is likely to keep his place against Bournemouth on Saturday, to be happy about being dropped again.

He added: “I think every player knows the manager needs to make decisions and I think ninety-nine percent of every player will be at odds with the manager if he doesn’t play. That’s how it should be because if you don’t have confidence in yourself it’s difficult to play in front of 60,000 people.”
“These players should have confidence and believe that I’m good enough to play and that I should play. I’m not just talking about Mo, I’m talking about everyone right now. I think it’s always difficult for any player who’s been left out because they want to help and show that they’re capable of helping the team.
“Mo is definitely one of them. He’s not a player who says leave me out five times in a row – everyone sees that. But everyone is the same in that regard.”
