The defending champions have won only one of their last five league games after Ao Tanaka’s stoppage-time equalizer Elland Road Saw them lose further positions in the top four, holding them to a draw for the second time in four days.
Hugo Akitike’s quick double early in the second half put Liverpool in control, before Leeds hit back through Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty and Anton Stach’s penalty.
Dominic Szoboszlai appeared to win it for the visitors late in the third minute, but substitute Tanaka snatched a point for Leeds in the sixth minute of extra time.
Slot said: “I think we’re improving. Individuals are improving, performances are improving, but it’s hard to accept that, even for these players.”
“They’re putting in so much effort and fighting so hard and not getting the result, so many times after one, I think we can understand that it does something to a person and a team.”
Liverpool had lost seven of their last 11 league matches before heading to Elland Road – where they had not lost for over 25 years – but while they walked away with a point, it would feel like another defeat and add further pressure to their head coach.
“It’s not about me, it’s what the players feel, what the fans feel, what everyone who loves this football club feels,” Slott said.
“I think we’re all feeling the same way right now. But I also hope everyone sees that these players are fighting really, really hard.
“And combine that with good football. Today again, we barely missed any chances and conceded three goals.”
“I see that we are doing many things well this season, even without the results. I can take a lot of positive things from this game.
“If we would have won it 2-0 or 3-2 – a controlled performance, impressive, playing against a very difficult team because Chelsea experienced it, (Manchester) City experienced it in the second half, because they changed their style of play to the long ball.”
Leeds moved three points clear of the relegation zone with another fighting performance after a 3-1 home win over Chelsea in midweek.
Owner Daniel Farke described the thrilling second half as “insane” and praised the Leeds fans for their players’ fighting spirit as well as creating an electric atmosphere.
“Damn, this is another magical night,” he said. “This is Elland Road. This ground was rocking again like probably no other ground in world football.
“Once this place got on it, it couldn’t be second to none. It was a crazy game.”
Farke said: “Sadly it was two mistakes where we more or less helped two of their goals, but that’s the attitude of my boys. Never give up on anyone and they always try to make the most of whatever comes their way in terms of difficulties or adversity.”
