Jaipur, Oct 30 (IANS) The Sapta Shakti Command or South Western Command is conducting an integrated fire and maneuver exercise – Sentinel Strike – at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan’s Thar Desert till Thursday, the day it will end, Army officials said.
Integrated firing exercises began on 28 October.
The exercise saw the use of diverse firing platforms in an integrated manner including ground maneuvers by mechanized forces and firing by air and ground vectors.
The event was witnessed by Army Commander South Western Command, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh along with senior military commanders of the formation.
The overall exercise included mission engagement by modern artillery weapons and lethal ammunition systems, offensive ground actions and maneuvers by mechanized forces as well as live firing, counter drone and C-UAS operations by ground and air platforms in an intense drone threat.
It involved extensive coordination between various combat arms systematically incorporating contemporary technologies in a multi-domain environment.
Validation of state-of-the-art surveillance systems and capabilities was also conducted to enhance battlefield transparency and share common operational intelligence picture among various stakeholders.
A number of versatile and indigenously developed long range air and ground vectors, including force multipliers such as attack helicopters, artillery guns, Ajeya (T-72 tanks) and BMPs, operated in a coordinated manner based on Intelligence, Surveillance and Receipt architecture.
PRO Defense of Rajasthan Lt Col Nikhil Dhawan said, the destructive effect of fire power was visible at the target end, and the realistic impact of the counter UAS grid envisaged in modern warfare was established by employing multiple kinetic and non-kinetic measures.
Army Commander Lieutenant General Singh appreciated the high standard of training of the troops and the partnership, seamless coordination and synergy in mission execution between various combat and combat support arms.
He also appreciated the harnessing of technological capabilities of indigenous platforms included as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
He commended all ranks for their professionalism and reiterated the need to continuously explore new warfare methods and enhance our combat capabilities for better operational preparedness.
