Chail (Himachal Pradesh), October 11 (IANS) Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday said the Indian Defense Forces followed the principle of ‘Dharma Yudh’ during ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Speaking as the chief guest at the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Military School (RMS) in this hill resort in Himachal Pradesh, he said, “Our forces attacked only terrorist hideouts and avoided targeting civilian and military targets.”
Appreciating the contribution of the oldest of the five National Military Schools under the direct control of the Defense Ministry, the Army Chief said the school has produced many outstanding defense officers and its alumni have made a name for themselves in various fields.
He expressed hope that the cadets of the schools would achieve great heights and urged them to uphold the values of the school and carry forward its glorious legacy with renewed vigor and responsibility.
The event began with the inauguration of the Shatabdi Gate at the historic cricket stadium of Chail, which is also the highest cricket ground in the world, a symbolic tribute to the school’s enduring legacy of honour, tradition and service to the nation.
Principal Vimal Kumar Gangwal Jain expressed gratitude to the chief guest and other distinguished guests for their presence in the historic centenary celebration.
This was followed by the presentation of the annual report, which highlighted the school’s academic excellence, co-curricular achievements, sporting achievements and major milestones achieved during the centenary year.
His address also highlighted the remarkable century-long journey of RMS Chail in shaping the young cadets into disciplined leaders and responsible citizens.
On the occasion, General Dwivedi released a special cover to commemorate 100 years of RMS Chail, followed by the unveiling of the first edition of the Centennial Chronicle.
Awards were also distributed at the ceremony recognizing excellence and achievement among the cadets.
Nikhil Pratap Singh of class XII was declared the best senior cadet, while Aryan Singh of class nine was declared the best junior cadet and Aaradhya of class VIII was declared the best girl cadet. Mithila House was awarded the Best Junior House and Ujjain House was declared the Best Senior House, acknowledging their collective spirit, leadership and contribution to the school life.
As a token of appreciation, the Principal presented a memento to the Chief Guest to commemorate his presence on this historic occasion.
General Dwivedi presented a special Centenary Trophy in recognition of the school’s 100 years of excellence, service and nation-building. Demonstrating the school’s enduring commitment towards sustainability, a plantation drive of 100 saplings was conducted under the theme ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ led by the Chief Guest, symbolizing a green tribute to 100 years of service and sacrifice.
The grand centenary celebrations were attended by eminent dignitaries including Lieutenant General MK Katiyar, Army Commander, Major General Prince Duggal, Major General VK Bhatt, AVM Gurcharan Singh Bhogal, senior most Georgians; and Solan Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma.
