Itanagar, November 6 (IANS) Army’s Spear Corps Commander Lieutenant General Abhijeet S. Pendharkar on Thursday visited the easternmost part of India to witness an integrated exercise of the Army and Assam Rifles, showcasing operational preparedness and combat readiness. A defense officer gave this information.
Defense spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said the exercise at Vijaynagar in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh included defense confirmation by the Assam Rifles and aerial entry of special forces troops including special heli-borne operations.
The spokesperson said the objective of the exercise is to validate our preparedness to deal with contingencies in the remote and rugged terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.
Lieutenant General Pendharkar received a comprehensive briefing on the security situation, technological enhancements and initiatives to improve combat effectiveness.
Additionally, he interacted with local Gorkha ex-servicemen in Changlang and Lishu communities of Vijayanagara. He praised the ex-servicemen for their long-term dedication and service to the nation, recognizing their contribution to regional stability and national security.
Vijayanagara, the easternmost populous region of India, is located in Changlang district and is bordered by Myanmar on three sides.
This beautiful, remote location holds immense strategic importance for India due to historical migration and settlements dating back to the early 1960s.
Lt Gen Pendharkar had visited forward areas in Arunachal Pradesh earlier this week to review operational preparedness and ongoing ‘Operation Chaukas’ activities.
During the visit, the Corps Commander reviewed preparations for the upcoming tri-service ‘Exercise Eastern Prachanda Prahar’, a major joint exercise showcasing multi-domain integration, synergy and mission readiness in the challenging terrain of the Eastern Himalayas.
He interacted with the troops deployed in forward areas and appreciated their patience, accuracy and professionalism while working in extreme weather conditions. He appreciated their unwavering commitment and high state of readiness which exemplifies the spirit and resilience of the Indian soldier.
Lieutenant General Pendharkar stressed the importance of interoperability, operational synergy and continuous training to maintain extreme combat readiness. The visit strengthened the resolve of the Spear Corps towards jointness, readiness and operational excellence in securing the eastern borders of the country.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force will converge in the rugged mountains of Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh for exercise ‘Eastern Prachanda Prahar’, a tri-service display of integrated combat capability, technical optimization and operational synergy in the Eastern Command.
Envisioned as a visionary exercise, it will validate multi-domain integration on land, air and sea fronts, reflecting the increased preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces for future conflicts.
Lt Gen Pendharkar said the objective of the exercise is to refine interoperability, enhance situational awareness and validate command and control structures for joint mission execution.
The highlight of the exercise will be the coordinated employment of special forces, unmanned platforms, precision systems and networked operations centers that will work together in realistic high altitude conditions.
