Armed police descend on Plymouth after man spotted with crossbow

A huge land and air search is underway after a man was reported in possession of a crossbow in Plymouth. Devon and Cornwall Police officers were seen in an area outside Salisbury Road Primary School on Wednesday.

An eyewitness told Plymouth Live: “There are armed police stationed outside the school, four coppers in one car.” 

The officers are reportedly no longer outside the school, according to the same news website. The emergency services were called at 2.30pm.

Police were also at the Beaumont Park area of the city with the suspect not yet found.

 

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 2.30pm to Beaumont Park, Plymouth, following a report of a man in possession of a cross bow. No threats were reported to have been made.”

They added that armed officers attended and searched the area, but have not located anyone matching the description.

The spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing.
