Arcade Fire‘S win butler and Regine Chassagne have announced they are separating after 22 years of marriage.
A brief statement was shared on the band’s official Instagram page saying that they will “continue to love, admire, and support each other while co-parenting their son”.
The statement also said that they will continue to work together on their charitable efforts with KANPE in Haiti “and that, like Arcade Fire, their bond as creative soul mates will endure”.
Butler, 45, and Chassagne, 49, married a year earlier in 2003 Arcade Fire releases its debut album last rites, Their first and only child was born in 2013, shortly before the release of their fourth studio album, Reflector.
In 2022, Butler was accused of “inappropriate” actions by four peopleAll of whom stated that they were dedicated fans of Arcade Fire when they first met them between 2015 and 2020, when they were between 18 and 23 years old. Butler’s age at that time was between 36 and 39.
Butler vehemently denied any non-consensual behavior. He cited struggles with mental health problems and alcohol abuse, said that he had had consensual affairs outside of his marriage, and apologized to “anyone who was offended by my behavior”.
Chassagne also responded to the allegations with a statement expressing support for her then-husband.
She said, “I know what’s in his heart, and I know he has never touched a woman without her consent, and I’m sure he never would.”
“He’s lost his way and found his way back. I love him and I love the life we’ve built together.”

Arcade Fire returns this year pink elephant, This is Butler’s first album since his indictment.
It is also their first release following the departure of Butler’s brother, Will, who confirmed he had left the band in March 2022.
“I left at the end of last year new record [WE] Done,” he said in a series of posts on X/Twitter.
“There was no serious reason other than that I’ve changed – and the band has changed – over the last 20 years or so. Time for new things.”
He added, “Thank you to everyone who has come to an AF show, or bought a record, or just liked our music. It’s meaningful to be a part of your lives.
“Thank you to the crew, staff, management, label people, band, artists and friends who have helped bring our vision to life for so many years. The band are still my friends and family. I’ll be around! See you!”
Will Butler has since composed the music for Critically acclaimed stage play stereophonic, which follows a fictional band struggling to record their new album while at the peak of global fame. The play comes to the West End this summer following its Tony win on Broadway.
Statements from Butler and Chassagne indicate that Arcade Fire plans to announce a new tour soon.
