Apple Watch Series 10 will offer blood pressure monitoring: Mark Gurman

By | Published | No Comments

Apple launched the new Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 in September last year. Like its predecessors, this new set of wearables provides users with valuable health insights directly on their wrists by monitoring heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep patterns, exercise, temperature and more. It is said that Apple will bring new blood pressure monitoring features to the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10. This feature will keep the wearer informed of blood pressure trends. Samsung offers similar functionality on the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 5 models.

In the latest edition of his weekly newsletter, Power On, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman think Blood pressure monitoring functionality will be added to Apple Watch Series 10. “All signs point to the new Apple Watch getting blood pressure checking this fall. But it doesn’t appear that the current model will come with that feature,” he said. This indirectly suggests that blood pressure monitoring will be a hardware feature and older Apple Watch models won’t be able to access it through software updates.

Monitoring blood pressure through Apple Watch will help users reduce their reliance on traditional blood pressure readings in the clinic. Tracking blood pressure through Apple Watch will help individuals track blood pressure changes and detect hypertension, heart disease, or other complications early.

Apple isn’t the first tech company to add blood pressure monitoring support to its smartwatches. Samsung currently offers ECG (electrocardiogram) and blood pressure monitoring functions for the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 6 series. Health tracking features can be accessed through the Samsung Health Monitor app. Huawei also offers a similar automatic blood pressure monitor in its Watch D.
