It’s been nearly a few weeks since the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset finally became available, albeit only in the United States. After launch, reviewers and consumers were quick to point out one minor annoyance: You can’t reset the Vision Pro yourself if you forget your password.
Apple quickly addressed the issue, releasing the VisionOS 1.0.3 update today, the first since its release as spotted by MacRumors. This update allows Vision Pro users to reset their headsets if they forget the device password they originally set.
Previously, the only way to reset the headphones was to take them back to an Apple Store. If the headphones are not nearby, users will need to ship them to Apple Support. Fortunately, this update now resolves this small but frustrating annoyance.
Along with this quick fix, the update also brings a series of undisclosed bug fixes affecting the headset. “This update provides important bug fixes and adds an option to reset your device if you forget your password,” Apple’s release notes read.
That said, while customers can now reset the headphones themselves after a failed attempt, that doesn’t change the fact that they still need to reset the headphones before they can set them up again. Therefore, it is very important to remember your password. Additionally, after resetting the headphones, Apple activation will remain intact and you will need to enter the original Apple ID used to set up the device.
