Apple CEO Tim Cook says Apple Vision Pro will be available in China in 2024

By | Published | No Comments

Apple CEO Tim Cook said on Sunday that the Apple Vision Pro will be launched in mainland China this year, state media reported.

CCTV Finance said on its Weibo social account that Cook revealed the headset’s China launch plan while answering media questions during the China Development Forum in Beijing.

He said that Apple will continue to increase its R&D investment in China.

Recently, there were reports that the Apple Vision Pro might launch in multiple countries soon. The Cupertino-based tech giant launched its first mixed reality (supporting both augmented reality and virtual reality) headset at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023. The headphones will then be launched in the United States in 2024. As for the headset’s expansion into other regions, the company has yet to reveal any such plans. But now, a report has uncovered clues as to which countries may have hidden Vision Pro in the code of a device’s operating system in the first place.

MacRumors first discovered a string of code in VisionOS that hints at Apple Vision Pro extensions. The device’s virtual keyboard currently only supports English (United States). However, the report mentioned that the code indicates that support for more than 12 languages will be added.

The 12 languages include Traditional Cantonese, Simplified Chinese, English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Japan), English (Singapore), English (UK), French (Canada), French (France), German (Germany) ), Japanese, Korean. Since the region is also mentioned in the language, the report states that China, Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany may be the first countries to sell the headphones in their countries. Notably, India is not mentioned in the list.
