Apple can cool down iPhone 16 Pro models to avoid overheating issues: Here’s how

Last updated: February 5, 2024 17:40 US Standard Time

Apple won’t be making major design changes to its next-generation iPhone 16 series later this year, but the company is unlikely to stand pat on every front. iPhone 15 Pro models are reportedly facing heating issues, which is rare for Apple, but the company is ready to address the issue by introducing a new layer of cooling protection.

A new report suggests that Apple could rely on graphene to lower the temperature of its iPhones, allaying concerns over possible overheating in iPhone 16 models later this year. pointed out that Apple will only rely on this material on the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models.

Graphene is also expected to replace graphite on current iPhone 15 Pro versions, but the company may want better results from testing before making the upgrade official. Overheating issues are not common in Apple devices, but as hardware capabilities increase significantly, stress and heavy applications on the device can have a heating effect. Keeping the 16 Pros’ graphene cooling system allows Apple to justify the higher price, as the brand is expected to be limited in other changes to this year’s iPhone range.

The new iPhone 16 series launching in 2024 will not see major design changes as Apple wants to focus on consistency and functionality. We’ve already heard that iPhone 16 models’ cameras will feature a new capture button that responds to touch and pressure.

But the lack of major design changes means the iPhone 16 series will be placed next to the iPhone 15 models and joked about because of their identical looks, like the memes we see almost every year. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently revealed details about the lack of changes to the upcoming iPhone in a post. Kuo mentioned that iOS 18 may have artificial intelligence in some form, but a major upgrade to the iPhone won’t come before 2025. This means that if you really want to get top-notch AI features from the company, wait for the iPhone 17 series 2025.
