Jammu, 8 October (IANS) Anti-terrorism operations continued in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday as no fresh firing exchanges were done from the area after a brief bullet exchange between security forces and terrorists.
Officials said the search operation continued on Wednesday in Dhar Sakhari village of Rajouri after a fire between police and militants, said that the reinforcement was taken to the area, and from this morning, bullets have not been exchanged in the area since this morning.
Officials said that there was no report of any casualties in a brief firing between terrorists and security forces.
The firing took place when the police started a search operation after receiving information about the movement of suspects.
The entire area is placed under a strict cordon, and a search operation continues. The enforcement of the army, paramilitary forces and police has reached the spot to maintain a cordon during the night and ensure that terrorists do not manage to flee during the night.
Senior officials have also reached the spot. People of the environment have been asked to live inside their homes until the area is cleaned by suspected terrorists.
Meanwhile, security forces also started a cordon and search operation in Dharni top area of Basantgarh in Udampur district on Wednesday.
The operation was started after informing about the movement of three suspected militants of some local people. The movement of terrorists has been seen in the forest area of Basantgarh, which has also been encountered.
Hyder alias Maulvi of Pakistan, a top commander of terrorists, was killed in Basantgarh on 26 June.
Security forces are offering aggressive operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWS) and sympathizers in the union sector to eliminate the entire ecosystem of terror.
Drug smugglers, pedals and people involved in the hole money racket are also on the scanner of the security forces, as it is believed that the money generated by these tasks is eventually used to maintain terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
