anthony joshua vowed to beat jake paul “By breaking him spiritually and mentally” when they meet in Miami on Friday.
‘AJ’ faces competition from YouTuber turned boxer eight three-minute roundsThe former world champion is limited in weight to 245 pounds, which has been widely criticized for the difference in experience and accolades at the top of the sport.
Joshua has been joined by Riyadh season boss Turki Alalshaikh Fight with British heavyweight rival Tyson Fury next yearBut the 36-year-old says he has been assigned to the Kasia center for a work assignment.
“I think Jake is a guy that I have to beat mentally, he’s a mental guy, that’s my observation,” Joshua said.
“There’s a lot about Jake’s preparation, the way he thinks, the focus, the breath work, if I can break his spirit, and I can break his mentality, then I’ve broken Jake.
“I don’t just look at it from a physical standpoint. I have to bring his spirit into the ring.”
Then Paul responded with a firm insistence: “The only one who can do this is God.”
But Joshua continues by underscoring his desire to dominate to the point that Paul may give up.
“I’ve seen in a fight, when I can see somebody, their energy, their frequency leaving their body, that’s my goal,” Joshua said.
“You have that tendency, you can see it, when you’re fighting, that little glimpse of someone who is about to fade, you keep exploiting them, some people give up, some people lose. It’s not about dominating physically, I want to break him spiritually and mentally.”
Joshua insisted he will be “cool” with Paul after the fight and does not “dislike” him.
“There’s room for us to do some good business,” Joshua said. “First and foremost I am a fighter, but if I look at life after boxing, we can definitely take some breaks.
“He will be looking to the right and I will attack him from the left. This [whether it goes more than one round] This is a big question, only God knows.
