In We did it right, babyHopkins touches on his separation from his 57-year-old daughter, Abigail, whom he shares with his first wife, Petronella Barker. The two have been estranged for more than 20 years, with the actor previously admitting that he “hasn’t been a good father.”

“They didn’t want to be there,” his memoir reads. “The entire meal, they kept looking into each other’s eyes and making faces. Abigail would never have been able to forgive me because she left the family when she was a child.”
He wrote that his separation from Abigail was “the saddest fact of my life and my greatest regret… That harshness is my default… I hope my daughter knows that my door is always open to her… I want her to be well and happy.”
