Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Amid rising tensions in Parliament, he has said he “regrets the politicization” of the Bondi Beach terror attack.
“This is not the time for people to seek a political product of discrimination, and I will continue to argue for unity,” Albanese said during a press conference on Tuesday (23 December).
The comments come after a personal attack by opposition leader Sussan Ley, who targeted Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong’s response to the tragedy.
“I didn’t see Penny Wong shed a single tear,” Le told reporters on Monday. He claimed that the government’s response was inadequate.
Opposition criticism came as pressure mounted to establish a royal commission into the attack on the Prime Minister.
