Jaipur, October 9 (IANS) Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has announced that it will contest the upcoming Anta assembly by-elections in Rajasthan independently without any alliance with the BJP.
RLD state president Jogendra Singh Awana told IANS, “At present we do not have any alliance with the BJP at any level in Rajasthan. Therefore, we will field our candidate in the Anta by-election. Our alliance is limited only to the UP and Central governments.”
He said the party has shortlisted two to three potential candidates and is currently discussing their names at the leadership level.
“The final decision will be taken after consultation with the national leadership,” Awana told IANS. He said that the names are being sent to Jayant Chaudhary.
Awana emphasized that the political environment in the state is changing.
He said, “The people of Rajasthan are now looking for a third option. RLD is emerging as the voice of farmers, laborers and youth. We will fight this by-election with full strength and ensure our presence.”
He underlined the importance of Anta by-election for the development of the party.
“This election is very important for us. Under the guidance of our national president Jayant Chaudhary, we are increasing our activism in every assembly constituency to strengthen the organization in the entire state.”
In a significant development, Awana revealed that discussions are going on with Naresh Meena, a strong local political figure.
Awana said, “Naresh Meena has a solid support base and a deep connect with the people. If the talks are positive then he can be our candidate for the Anta by-election.”
Over the past few months, RLD has been focusing on expanding its organizational presence in Rajasthan.
Under the leadership of Jayant Chaudhary, the party has launched a statewide effort to build its team in all seven divisions.
Following the recent appointment of city president in Jaipur, Anta by-election is being seen as an important opportunity to further strengthen its presence in the state. –IANS
