Jaipur, Oct 21 (IANS) Subhashree Nanda, the general observer appointed by the Election Commission of India for the Anta Assembly by-election 2025 in Rajasthan, on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive inspection of polling stations and posts in the constituency.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the preparedness of the administration to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections.
During the inspection, Nanda reviewed the arrangements at various polling stations, focusing on the availability of essential facilities such as electricity, drinking water, toilets, ramps, sheds, wheelchairs and waiting areas.
Special attention was given to facilities for persons with disabilities, senior citizens and women voters with clear instructions to ensure a safe, accessible and inclusive voting environment on polling day on November 11.
He also inspected the checkposts, observing the procedures related to vehicle checking, CCTV surveillance, videography, material seizure and record keeping.
He directed the officers to strictly enforce the model code of conduct and remain vigilant against any illegal activities.
After the field visit, General Supervisor Nanda held a review meeting with District Election Officer and Collector Rohitashv Singh Tomar and Superintendent of Police Abhishek Andasu at the Circuit House in Baran.
The meeting took a detailed review of the security arrangements at sensitive and vulnerable polling stations, deployment and activity of flying squads and Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs), progress of voter awareness and outreach campaigns and departmental coordination for the smooth conduct of elections.
Nanda stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination and urged officials to work proactively to ensure peaceful polling and maximum turnout.
“Elections are the biggest festival of democracy and should be conducted with the highest standards of honesty, transparency and vigilance,” he said.
On this occasion, Returning Officer and SDM Anta Hawai Singh Yadav, Liaison Officer and Assistant Director Juhi Aggarwal and police and administrative officers of the concerned departments were also present.
