New Delhi: As Bihar assembly elections approach, political developments are gaining momentum, especially within the NDA, with BJP’s Bihar state president Dilip Jaiswal on Friday saying the alliance’s seat-sharing arrangement will be announced soon.
Jaiswal told reporters in Patna, “Soon everything will be decided; seats will be announced in a day or two. I have already said that the NDA has started the elections with strong unity and now there is no issue left, be it seat sharing or announcement of candidates.”
His comments are aimed at dispelling speculations of internal friction over seat-sharing within the alliance, which includes the BJP, JD(U), HAM, RLJP and other smaller parties.
JD(U) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan also reiterated the alliance’s unity and said all seat-sharing decisions have already been taken.
“Everything has been decided. Please wait for the joint announcement. There is no confusion anywhere. Discussions among the five constituent parties have been completed. This is not unexpected; whenever elections have been held after the implementation of the model code of conduct, the seat-sharing decision has been taken. The announcement will be made soon,” Ranjan said.
He further stressed that the NDA is fully prepared and confident of returning to power.
He said, “We have made up our mind to achieve our goal with all our strength. The blessings of the public are with us. The next government will be formed by NDA and Nitish Kumar will be the next Chief Minister.”
Taking a direct hit at the opposition, Ranjan said: “This is the NDA, not the grand alliance, where the constituents try to exert pressure till the last moment. Just yesterday, top Congress leaders reportedly refused to meet Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. The Left, including the CPI(ML), and parties like VIPs are already raising voices of rebellion. Everything is completely normal here, and the upcoming seat-sharing With this announcement, the picture will become clear.
Meanwhile, the nomination process for the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections began on Friday, with candidates filing nominations for 121 seats in 18 districts. Voting for this phase is scheduled to take place on November 6 and the districts where voting is to be held include Gopalganj, Siwan, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Nalanda, Darbhanga and others.
The elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11 and counting of votes will take place on November 14.
