People’s Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister Hakim Yasen today called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to end a clear time for his restoration and call for ending the prevailing uncertainty on the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a one -day party conference at Arizel in Khanshib constituency in Budgam district of Central Kashmir, Hakim Yasen said that political leaders and public promised states have been left on suspicion for weeks.
He said, “Rumors and speculation are creating more confusion among the public. If Jammu and Kashmir is actually the crown of India, as the central government often describes it, the Taj should be respected by honoring the Taj. The announcement for the state should be made without further delays in Parliament,” he said.
Hakim Yasen stressed that fulfilling this commitment will not only restore public belief, but will also help in addressing issues such as unemployment, stalled development, and pending EMI, bank loan and economic crisis caused by business uncertainty.
Hakim appealed for immediate cancellation of restrictions at major tourist destinations in Budgam, including Duthapathri, Yusmarg and Tamasadan. He said that these sanctions have severely hit the tourism-dependent economy, deprived thousands of families of their livelihood in areas such as transport, pony services, hotels, handicrafts and local markets.
He said, “The Lieutenant Governor has assured me during a recent meeting that these sanctions will be lifted soon. We hope that this promise will be implemented on a fast-track basis. Many routes will be opened for self-employment and economic revival from the revival of tourism.”
Highlighting the need for infrastructure-powered employment generation, Hakim said that mini-hydel projects in Sukang and Shaliganga are ready for execution, but have stopped. He said, “These projects can generate very important employment for local youth and also meet the needs of the area power. Their immediate commission should be given priority,” he demanded.
The conference saw major participation of local people including youth and senior citizens. Many people joined the PDF on the occasion, promising to work for the welfare and development of the region under the leadership of Hakim Yasen.
Repeating his call for decisive action, Hakim said, “This is time for the Government of India to fulfill its commitments. A clear date to restore the state of Jammu and Kashmir will breathe a sigh of relief for our people, speculation, and pave the way for stability and development.”
