Angola president Jo Manuel Gonclaves Laurenva, the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) will visit India from 1 to 4 May at the invitation of Droupadi Murmu.
President Laurenco will be with a high-level delegation, including several ministers, senior officials, commercial houses and media.
During the visit, the Angaolan President will be formally welcomed, the President will be called, and a banned and delegation-tier talks with the Prime Minister will be held. The two leaders will also address the major commercial issues of the two countries.
Several MoUs are expected to be signed in the fields of traditional medicine, agriculture and cultural cooperation.
In October 2015, Angola Vice President, Manual Visent visited India to attend the third Indo-Africa Summit, during which he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his visit to Johannesburg to attend the BRICS summit, Jo Manuel Gonkalvase Lauranco met PM Modi on 26 July 2018.
India established formal diplomatic relations with Angola in 1985. Since then, it has maintained strong relations with the country. This year is the 40th anniversary of these relations.
Angola is the President of the African Union for the year 2025.
Em S Jaishankar and Foreign Minister Ttete Antonio, Foreign Minister of Angan, met in Kampala on January 18, 2024 on the occasion of the NAM ministerial meeting.
Mose VK Singh visited Luanda on July 15, 2015 as PM’s Special Envoy for IAFS III as a special envoy of PM. During the journey, he called Vice President Manual Visent.
MOS (MJ AKBAR) visited Angola on 15–16 March 2018, and held a bilateral meeting on 16 March 2018 with the State Secretary of International Cooperation and Angolan communities, Domingos Custodio Veera Lopes. The MoU on ICT was signed during the journey.
Angle’s Foreign Minister Joao Bernardo de Miranda visited India in May 2006, and his successor, Georges R. Blackoti visited India in February 2011 to attend the Indo-LDC Minister Conference in Delhi.
There has been a regular political exchange between India and Angola, including several trips by their dignitaries such as Agriculture Minister, Finance Minister, Health Minister etc. (ANI).
