“The well-documented allegations against you, as well as your long-term friendship with Mr. Epstein, indicate that you may have knowledge of his activities related to our investigation.

“In the interest of justice for the victims Jeffrey EpsteinWe request that you cooperate with the Committee’s investigation by sitting for a written interview with the Committee.

The request is not a subpoena that would compel Andrew to testify, but a request made on behalf of committee members.

It comes after the former Duke of York were formally stripped of their titles On Thursday by his brother King Charles. Last week, Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew would be evicted from his home at Royal Lodge and stripped of his HRH and Prince titles.

Committee members had previously asked Andrew to come forward and answer questions on his friendship with Epstein in the US. Last week, the BBC reported that at least four Democrats had called for Andrews to testify again, with some even suggesting he could do so over video link and in the presence of a lawyer.

Spencer Cuvin, a lawyer who represents some of Epstein’s victims, also called Andrew to testify.

He told BBC News: “We need to hear his story and hear what he’s saying about what happened, but he can also testify about other potential co-conspirators that he saw who were present at the mansion here in the States who were carrying out inappropriate activities.

“So on both fronts, both on behalf of other victims, but potentially on behalf of himself, we would like Andrew to come here and testify.”

Britain’s Trade Minister Chris Bryant also previously told the BBC that he believed Andrew should go to the US to answer questions about Epstein.

He said, “I think like any normal member of the public, if there were requests like this from another jurisdiction, I would expect any decent-minded person to comply with that request.” “So I feel exactly the same way in this situation.

“What I’m basically saying is that I think if Andrew was asked to do something by a Senate committee, I would have thought he would want to comply.”
