Amravati, 30 September (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday requested the Center to provide financial assistance to the state under the Pavodaya scheme announced for the overall development of eastern states.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he presented a detailed representation to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitarman, requesting the central government to increase financial assistance under Pavodaya.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Purvaodaya Yojana launched by the overall development center of Eastern states has already identified Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
The purpose of this scheme is to unlock the economic capacity of eastern regions by promoting the development of agriculture, industry and infrastructure, which promotes regional inequalities and inclusive growth.
Emphasizing the need for balanced development, CM Naidu said that the state government has prepared a comprehensive plan to effectively use the scheme funds for regional progress.
Underlining his vision, the CM informed the FM Sitarman that the state government aims to promote horticulture in Rayalaseema, to expand coffee tree plantation, cashew and coconut fields in northern Andhra, and strengthen aquatic agricultural activities in coastal Andhra.
He said that under Purvodaya, targeted funding for these projects will not only improve productivity, but will generate employment and increase income level in rural areas.
Naidu specially underlined that the implementation of the scheme would play a transformative role in upliftment of backward areas such as northern Andhra and Rayalaseema, which have historically lagged behind in terms of industrial and economic development.
The Chief Minister, who arrived in the national capital on Tuesday, will attend the CII’s Cur’s Curzer Partnership Summit, where he is expected to prepare an investment opportunities in the state and invite investors to attend the CII Partnership Summit to be held in Viskhpatnam on 14 and 15 November.
The state government is operating road shows in various countries to invite industrialists to the partnership summit.
Naidu will also meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
After the night stops in Delhi, he will proceed to Visakhapatnam on 1 October and from there, “Pedala Savlo” will visit Datti village in Vijianagaram district to participate in the “Pedala Savalo” NTR Trust Pension Distribution Program.
