Amravati, October 7 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh government has suspended Anantapur District Women and Child Welfare and Empowerment Officer M. Nagmani for the death of an infant due to negligence in the Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA).
The Women and Child Department on Tuesday issued an order suspended Nagmani and ordered disciplinary action against her.
The government order (GO) states that Nirup, two months of death, died on October 3, but no immediate information was given by the District Women and Child Welfare and Empowerment Officer about the child hospitalization and death.
The recent death was reported after the news was published in the newspapers.
“It reflects the lack of negligence, misconduct, monitoring failure and dedication on behalf of Anantapur District Women and Child Welfare and Empowerment Officer, which violates CCA’s Rules 3 and Andhra Pradesh’s conduct rules. Therefore, the Director of Women Development and Child Welfare Department, Director of Women Development and Child Welfare Department, Anantapur District Women and Child Welfare and Empowerment Officers immediately recommend to suspend and start disciplinary action.”
The GO cited a newspaper report alleging that the child died due to negligence and internal misunderstandings among the Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) employees.
Newspaper clippings specifically mention that the concerned child failed to feed sufficiently, which may have contributed to this tragic event.
It is alleged that the body of the child was buried to hide the incident and it was revealed a day after the incident.
According to the report presented by Nagmani, the infant was under regular surveillance by SAA employees and was considered medicalily stable despite low weight.
Nevertheless, the child died unexpectedly on 3 October due to diarrhea.
A woman from Kalyanadurg, citing financial difficulties, handed over her child to the Women and Child Welfare Department on 30 September, due to which she could not take care of her.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday ordered an inquiry into the infant’s death.
The Chief Minister spoke to Sandhya Rani, the Minister of Women and Child Welfare and Tribal Welfare of the state about both the incidents.
District Collector of Anantpur O. Anand ordered an inquiry into the incident.
He formed a three -member committee to investigate the incident.
