The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday gave administrative approval to ₹2,637 crore payable to power distribution companies as advance claim of tariff subsidy for the third quarter of the current financial year, an official said.

K Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary, Energy Department, said the Member Convenor, Andhra Pradesh Power Coordination Committee (APPCC) has informed that the distribution companies (DISCOMS) have submitted their advance claims for tariff subsidy for Q3, FY26, applicable to all categories of power consumers.

Furthermore, the member convener requested the government to arrange funds.

“Government grants administrative approval to the Member Convenor of APCC for an amount of ₹2,637 crore for advance claim of tariff subsidy for the third quarter of the financial year 2025-26 payable to APDISCOMS,” Vijayanand said in a government order.

Vijayanand, who is also the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, said that as per Section 65 of the Electricity Act, 2003, the state government has to pay advance amount of subsidy to the discoms every quarter.

According to the top official, the state government had in April issued a comprehensive budget release order (CBRO) for an amount of ₹12,939 crore as advance subsidy for the four quarters of FY2026.
