New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) With no clarity yet on the seat-sharing arrangement within the grand alliance of opposition parties, the BJP on Wednesday criticized them and said a coalition unable to distribute seats properly is unfit to run the government.
Speaking to IANS, BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said, “There has been a breakdown in communication between the leaders of the grand alliance in Bihar. RJD and Congress workers are engaged in undermining each other, and no real coordination is visible between them. The Congress is in no position to contest all the seats, yet it claims to be an important part of the alliance.”
BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, “No alliance runs on the strength of legacy, but on performance. Their old legacy is being used to dominate and hijack their own alliance partners. They spend all day criticizing Prime Minister Modi, yet they could have learned at least one thing from him – how to manage a coalition. In 2014, a non-Congress party came to power with an overwhelming majority. I. Yet, PM Modi chose. Run the government with coalition partners. If Congress had got such a majority, they would not have even considered their allies. If you want to criticize, at least learn how alliances are managed.
BJP MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal said, “Many candidates in the grand alliance are still fighting among themselves over seat distribution. What message will this send to the public? An alliance which cannot even distribute seats properly cannot be trusted to run the government.”
BJP leader Jivesh Mishra said, “They can do anything. Instead of aiming for 243 seats, they seem to be aiming for 2,000 seats. Why call it a grand alliance? Isn’t it like a ‘Maha-Lathbandhan’ – a grand alliance of stick-wielders?”
Union minister Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) said, “Those who can’t manage the alliance—honestly, I wonder what world they are living in. Even today, after the second phase of nominations, there is still no clarity.”
“We have never seen such an alliance where leaders are fighting among themselves during nominations. The process is almost complete, yet they have not yet decided how many seats they are contesting. Rahul Gandhi had started the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, but where is he now? He has completely disappeared. Is it not the responsibility of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav to clear all the confusion in the grand alliance? This clearly shows that Congress is not serious. Bihar Election. After all this, it is clear – NDA will form the next government in the state,” he told IANS.
