Amit Shah to visit Bastar on 4 October, to attend Dussehra celebrations

Raipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on 4 October, where he will participate in a series of cultural and strategically important programs.

The yatra comes in response to an invitation extended by the local member of Parliament, Chairman of Bastar Dussehra Committee, and tribal leaders, known as Manisis. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vijay Sharma, confirmed HM Shah’s journey program, which highlights the Union Minister’s engagement with tribal traditions and regional festivals.

As part of Bastar Dussehra celebrations, HM Shah Muriya Durbar – will attend a traditional tribal council meeting – where he will eat with revered tribal priests including Manjhi, Gayata and Parma.

This symbolic gesture outlines the government’s outreach and recognition of their cultural heritage for indigenous communities.

After the Muria Durbar, Shah is expected to visit the Swadeshi Mela in Jagdalpur, a fair that displays local handicrafts, indigenous products and traditional arts.

Their presence at the fair is estimated to promote morale among local artisans and promote the area’s self -sufficient economy.

In addition to cultural busyness, HM Shah’s visit has strategic importance. He is slapped to hold a high-level meeting with the security forces officials posted in Bastar. There will be discussions on the progress made in combating Naxalite violence and roadmap to eradicate the rebellion.

According to Deputy CM Sharma, the government has set an ambitious target to resolve the Naxalite issue by 31 March, 2026. The trip is seen as a mixture of cultural solidarity and administrative inspection, which reflects the Center’s double meditation on tribal welfare and national security.
