Amit Shah in Bihar today, to hold major meetings before the assembly elections

Patna, September 18 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in Bihar on Thursday as part of BJP’s preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, where he is expected to hold several meetings to raise party workers and fix the campaign roadmap.

Party officials said that Shah would address two important meetings during the journey-one with workers in Dehri-on-Son in Rohta district and another in Begsarai region.

About 2,000 to 2,500 participants, including district presidents, MLAs and senior leaders, are expected to attend the sessions.

The Bihar unit has divided the state into five regions, and Shah’s outreach is designed to strengthen the party’s presence in many areas before the election.

The BJP has also been designed to launch a door-to-door campaign from Thursday to 25 September, during which the booth-tier workers and leaders will hold talks with the residents to highlight the central and state government’s plans and their benefits.

Shah has also been invited by Bihar State Religious Trust Council for a meeting with priests, saints and sadhus at Bapu Auditorium in Patna on the same day.

However, his participation in the program has not yet been officially confirmed.

Later this month, on 27 September, Shah is expected to hold a seat-sharing, candidate selection and another round of discussion with Bihar BJP leaders on the broader election strategy.

The inner sources of the party suggest that the BJP and its allies are looking at a competition in about 225 seats this time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed Shah’s visit closely after inaugurating the interim terminal building of the new Civil Enclave at Purnia Airport and launching development projects worth Rs 36,000 crore.
