Bhopal, October 1 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh government has issued a strong explanation about its affidavit presented in the Supreme Court in the ongoing case for other backward classes (OBCs).
This step comes in response to viral social media content “wrongly responsible for the official stance of the government in court”.
According to the state’s public relations department, some “mischievous elements” have broadcast the misleading material online, claiming that it is part of the affidavit filed by the government before the Supreme Court. On reviewing, the government has declared these claims as “completely incorrect, fabricated and inspired with malicious intentions” through an official statement released on Wednesday.
Viral content, official statement has been clarified, it is not mentioned in the affidavit nor does it reflect any approved policy or decision of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Initial investigation shows that the Mahajan Commission under the chairmanship of the controversial material Ramji Mahajan has originated from the 1983 final report (Part -1). This commission was formed on 17 November 1980, and it submitted its final report to the then state government on 22 December 1983.
However, the government emphasized that its current policy of 27 percent reservation was not based on the recommendations of the Mahajan Commission.

The official statement further stated that the Mahajan Commission report was already part of the judicial record in the High Court and is part of the Supreme Court record in detail.
Through the statement, the government reiterated that submission of separate excerpts from the report of the academic or expert committee on social media is an “condemnable act” and warned of serious investigation and action against those responsible.
The government confirmed its commitment to inclusive development and social harmony under the principle of ‘Saba Sixty, Saba Vikas’. It was also revealed that the official documents related to the report of the expert committee and reservation across India are regularly presented to the courts as part of the judicial proceedings.
