A video shows the shocking moment an airport worker lost control of a refueling hose, spilling gallons of highly flammable fuel. American Airlines aircraft and tarmac Dallas-Fort Worth Airport on weekends.
Videos shared on social media showed the hose beneath the plane shaking violently, spewing fuel for more than a minute, while the worker struggled to regain control before being pulled back.
The horrific incident occurred on Saturday when the employee was refueling an American Eagle aircraft parked at a gate of Terminal E of the Texas airport. No one was injured.
American Airlines confirmed the incident in a statement to New York Post.
“We are investigating the incident with DFW Airport and the airport’s fuel contractor, Menzies, and are working together on cleanup per procedures,” according to the statement.
A spokesperson for Dallas-Fort Worth Airport said Post The leak was quickly contained by the airport’s security systems and the surface was cleaned.
The exact amount of fuel spilled has not yet been determined.
