two out of three ambulance Employees fear attack while on duty Christmas During this time a new report has revealed.
A survey by the GMB union involving more than 1,100 staff at ambulance trusts across the UK revealed that more than 40 per cent fear being physically attacked, and more than half are worried about verbal abuse.
Three out of four respondents also reported having a negative impact on their mental health in the past year.
GMB publicized its findings on the last Friday before Christmas, noting it was the most popular night for workplace Christmas parties and one of the busiest nights of the year for ambulance and hospital staff.

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedic Simon Day said: “It’s going to be a wild Friday night.
“People are celebrating, drinking, dancing, but unfortunately this is a night when normally sane people do very stupid things.
“Ultimately it will be left to us to pick up the pieces – it will be a grueling, ongoing struggle for ambulance workers across the UK.
“Morale is already at low levels due to increasing workloads and staffing problems – it’s no wonder so many of us feel like we’re about to burn out.
“Our message is have fun, celebrate, but before you do anything stupid please think about us ambulance crews.”
