On the auspicious occasion of Ashhad Purnima, traditionally known as ‘Chhari Mubarak’, the saffron-ridden silver thunder of Lord Shiva, marking the formal beginning of the age-old traditions associated with the average Amarnath yatra, was taken to Pahgam for geo-worship rituals.
Amid chanting of Vedic hymns, a group of sadhus led by Swami Mahant Deepender Giri took Mubarak from their residence in Srinagar. The holy mace was then taken to Gauri Shankar Temple, Pahgam, where Bhumi Pujan was demonstrated with religious enthusiasm.
The ceremony saw the participation of many devotees who strengthened the overall cultural ethos of the region.
Chhari Mubarak will continue his traditional journey according to the religious calendar, which will conclude in the last darshan in the holy cave of Shri Amarnath ji.
