Bhopal, October 7 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel said on Tuesday that global warming is the result of tampering with nature and now it is important that plants should be planted wherever the appropriate places are found.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the State Level Wildlife Week program at Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal, Patel emphasized that along with development, it is necessary to be vigilant and active towards nature conservation.
The Governor said, “Forest and wildlife are the backbone of our ecosystems, and their existence is directly related to the balanced state of our forests, rivers and climate. I will appeal to the citizens to teach children about the co-existence of human and nature since childhood.”
Governor Patel, during his speech, gave an example of a school with 400 students from Kutch, stating the importance of small efforts in environmental protection, where a teacher couple along with children created a boundary wall of trees.
He said, “Children were made partners and they planted saplings together. Children used to water the plants from washing fruits and vegetables at home to give water to the next day. In only four years, a large boundary wall of the school was ready through small contribution.”
Governor Patel also said that he has a record of working as a forest minister in Gujarat for 18 years.
As the Governor of the state, he has also been participating in the closing ceremonies continuously for the last four years.
Meanwhile, he appreciated the theme of Wildlife Week – ‘Till co -existence’ to convey the message of participation beyond traditional wildlife conservation thinking.
He congratulated the Forest Department and other stakeholders for efforts to provide environmental education to rural areas, schools and various communities.
During the program, the annual report of Madhya Pradesh Tiger Foundation Society 2024-25, Biodiversity Board Laple PIN Box, First Bhopal Bird Festival Poster, Satpura Tiger Reserve Narmadapuram from Satpura grass and Bhopal Birds were released by Madhya Pradesh Birds Area Guide Publication.
