Patna, Oct 19 (IANS) The BJP on Sunday hit out at the Grand Alliance for its “inability” to finalize the seat-sharing arrangement in Bihar and questioned how parties which “cannot agree among themselves” can think about the development of the state.
The party alleged that the ongoing tussle between the alliance partners is the result of “dynastic politics” deeply rooted in every component of the alliance.
The grand alliance, which includes key players like Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress and the Left, is still unable to reach a consensus, with smaller allies also expressing concerns over their share in the 243-member Bihar Assembly.
BJP national spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told IANS that the Grand Alliance is suffering from ‘internal strife’.
He said, “The so-called grand alliance in Bihar is trapped in the web of its own confusion and contradictions. The alliance partners seem to be entangled in the web of internal discord, because the fabric of their alliance is full of cracks and holes.”
“There are deep ambitions and mutual differences among the coalition partners, and by the time they heal these rifts, the elections may be over – and perhaps, their alliance too,” he said.
Naqvi said the problem lies in the “dynastic mentality” dominating the alliance.
He said, “These so-called inheritors of the political legacy, the default dynasties, believe that a little noise and publicity will get them electoral magic. But far from creating any miracle or storm, they seem to be heading towards their own political downfall.”
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh told IANS that the Grand Alliance has no vision to develop Bihar.
He said, “A coalition that cannot reach internal consensus or coordinate effectively – how can they provide stability, leadership or development for a large state like Bihar? Instead of addressing public issues, these leaders are engaged in a tug-of-war over tickets and posts. This is their real mindset; they have no vision to take Bihar forward.”
“The only focus is Jungle Raj and the people of Bihar have understood this. Therefore, people will again reject him,” he said.
BJP MP Rajeev Pratap Rudy also took a dig at the alliance, saying, “The grand alliance is not a political party alliance; it is a family party alliance. Congress, RJD and JMM – all are based on family-centric politics. That is why there is no agreement between them. These parties are not based on political principles.”
